Conference Plenary Sessions

Plenary session at your in-house conference or away day

For charities that are determined to continually improve, a powerful tactic is to bring the whole organisation together for a fundraising conference or department away day.

Done well, these events can make a positive step change in the morale and the delivery of a fundraising strategy by your frontline people.

A strategic approach

A conference of this nature really needs to deliver progress in the key areas you have set out beforehand. If not, it’s a waste of resources, both in terms of the time, money and energy spent creating the event, and in terms of lost productivity because people were taken away from their jobs to attend.

And delivering plenary presentations to a large group of people, with a broad range of job types represented in the room, requires advanced speaking skills rather than just fundraising skill or skill in conducting meetings with smaller teams.

When the stakes are this high, it’s important to find someone with a proven track record of teaching and inspiring large groups of fundraisers. Otherwise, you risk your staff feeling bored and even leaving demotivated by your away day.
